This morning April 11, 2012, I suddenly awoke feeling a bit worried after having a horrific nightmare or perhaps just a very scary dream. Whatever the case, I did wake myself up screaming “help me!” With my eyes wide open, still shaken from my dream, I stumbled out of bed, stepping over my dog making my way to the kitchen. As I was making coffee, I knew I had to hurry and jot down my dream before it evaporated from my brain.
Strangely in the past, when I jotted down my dreams and dated them, at some time in the future they came true. However, I don’t always remember my dreams but when I do, they come to fruition in some form. Sometimes just a snapshot of the dream will appear later in my life and suddenly I’ll have a Dejavu moment and I feel like I’ve been there before.
There are studies of dreams that say they are symbolic and sometimes a sign of the future so I thought why not have a place where we can share our dreams/nightmares and at the same time document them. This will allow us to come back to review what we’ve dreamt and to see if there’s a pattern or perhaps a peep into the future.
Wikipedia defines; Dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not definitively understood, though they have been a topic of scientific speculation, as well as a subject of philosophical and religious interest, throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is called oneirology.
According to Freud, every dream represents a wish fulfillment. Dreams are representative of the imaginary fulfillment of a wish or impulse in early childhood, before such wishes have been repressed. The dream images represent the unconscious wishes or thought disguised through symbolization and other distorting mechanisms. Freud has postulated the existence of a “censor” which excluded unconscious wishes during conscious states and which in sleep compelled the transformation of unconscious wishes into the disguised conscious form of the dream as experienced by the sleeper. Freud assumed that this “censor” was in the service of the ego: that is, he considered it as self preservative function which was in accord with his belief that reason and volition presided over these functions. With the development of ego psychology, the activities of the censor, along with the manifestations of repression, displacement, and symbolism in waking life, have been included among those functions of the ego and superego which may lie outside the individual’s conscious awareness.
In 1900, Dr. Sigmund Freud penned a book, “The Interpretation of Dreams.”
Here’s my tip on how to remember your dreams. In my experience, the best way is to jot them down right away before you talk to anyone. I try to remain in a dream-like state as I jot down things I remember. Sometimes once I write something down, I remember something else about the dream and I’m able to create a timeline of the events which explains the events in a story-like fashion so to speak.
There are several websites that explain how to remember your dreams. I thought this one was the most concise.
http://www.wikihow.com/Remember-Dreams
How to Remember Your Dreams
1.) Make a conscious decision to remember your dreams. You’ve got a better chance of remembering your dreams if you really want to remember them. Assuming you do want to, tell yourself that you’re going to remember your dreams and conscientiously follow the steps to make your desire to remember your dreams come true.
2.) Put a pad and pen or pencil within easy reach of your bed. It’s best if it just has plain paper with no designs or other distractions. Use this pad only for recording your dreams. Before you go to sleep, make sure it is open to the next page on which you can write so you don’t have to search for a blank page when you wake up. Always put the pen in the same spot so that you don’t have to search for that, either. An alternative to writing your dreams is to keep a tape recorder near your bed or under your pillow so that you can verbally recount what happened in your dream.
3.) Place your alarm clock close to your bed. When you wake up you want to be able to focus on remembering your dreams before you perform any other activities. If you can wake up without an alarm clock, you won’t have to worry about turning it off, but if you do need an alarm, make sure you can turn it off quickly and easily, preferably without even moving in bed. Don’t use a radio alarm clock, as the ads or chatter on the morning show will likely distract you from your task.
If possible, try using a gentler way of waking up. Wake up on your own, ask someone to wake you gently and without talking to you, or hook up a timer to the lights in your room. Many people find that they are able to better recall dreams if they don’t use an alarm clock.
4.) Place a post-it note on the alarm clock, with the words “What did you dream?” or similar in large letters, so that it’s the first thing you see when you open your eyes (and turn the alarm clock off).
5.) Get to bed early enough to get adequate sleep on a consistent basis. If you wake up too tired to think, you’ll find it hard to recall your dreams. Too little sleep will also limit the number of dreams you have. People who sleep less than six hours have a hard time remembering dreams.
6.) Think about a major problem or emotional concern right before you fall asleep (nothing that will spark too much of a negative feeling). Think deeply about the situation without pressing for solutions or coming to conclusions. Just thinking about the problem “opens the door”, in a sense, to more vividly remember dreams, and the dreams may even offer more insights regarding the problem at hand.
7.) Concentrate on recalling your dream as soon as you wake up. Typically you can remember only the last dream you had before waking. Don’t move and don’t do anything. Stay in the same position as the one in which you awoke and try to remember as much about your dream as possible before you think about anything else.
Focus your gaze on the first object you see as you open your eyes. Look at the object; focus on it. That object will most often take the vague recollection of your dream to a place mark in memory where it is easier to recall details. A doorknob, a light bulb, or a nail in the wall, for example, will quell your urge to begin your day, and will help you to settle into memories of what you had experienced while sleeping
8.) Record your dream in your dream journal. Jot down as much as possible about your dream, starting with a basic sketch that includes such things as the location of the dream, the basic plot, the characters, the overall emotion of the dream (i.e. were you scared or happy in the dream?), and any prominent images you can recall. If you can remember any dialogue, you may want to write it down first, as words in dreams are easily forgotten. Record everything you can, even if you can only remember one image. As you get the basics down, more of the dream may come to you.
If you can’t remember anything about your dream, write down the first thing that comes into your mind upon waking. It may be related to the dream in some way, and it might trigger recollections. Also write down how you’re feeling when you wake up. The emotions you experience in a dream typically remain, at least for a brief period, when you awake, so if you wake up anxious or elated, ask yourself why.
9.) Increase the number of dreams you can remember by writing in your dream journal every time you wake up throughout the night. You dream several times while you’re sleeping, so if you only record the last dream you had before you get up in the morning, there are more dreams you might not be remembering. It’s always tempting to go right back to sleep when you wake up in the middle of the night, but take the opportunity to remember what you were dreaming before you do—in all likelihood you will not remember it in the morning.
Since you usually only remember the last dream you had, you can remember more dreams by waking up several times during the night. We go through a complete sleep cycle approximately every 90 minutes, so you may find it productive to set your alarm to wake you at some multiple of 90 minutes (such as 4.5, 6, or 7.5 hours) after you expect to go to sleep. Dreams in the later half of the night are typically longer than those you dream soon after going to sleep, so you probably want to wait until at least the 4.5 hour mark to intentionally wake yourself.
This is only recommended for people who get adequate sleep and who can fall back asleep easily. Otherwise, skip this step.
10.) Keep a notepad or voice recorder with you throughout the day. Often something you see or hear later in the day will trigger a memory of a dream from the night before. Note these recollections without delay, and think about them to see if you can remember how they fit into the rest of the dream. It also helps to continually think about your dreams throughout the day.

I found Dreammoods.com to be a great interpretation site but feel free to post other websites or even personal information you happen to know about dreams.
Remember everything is subject to personal beliefs and there is no right or wrong. Its perfectly acceptable to interpret your dream in your own personal way too. Who better knows YOU than yourself, just remember to be discreet when posting your dreams. Personal information such as names and locations, are definitely not a good idea. Be creative. Be descriptive and have fun sharing.
Sweet Dreams!

Sigmund Freud
Here’s something I thought interesting. Due to working the graveyard shift for so many years I have odd sleep patterns, sleep at odd hours. Yesterday & the day before I had dreams about my grandson Tyson. Immediately as I awoke I found his dad knocking on my door asking if I could babysit for a few hours. Both trips were completely unexpected. Both times just before waking was dreaming of Ty and then immediately he was there. THe dreams were about him being “watched/looked after” . I figure the full moon plays a part, maybe in your case also JB. Just thought it was interesting!
My dream April 11, 2012;
I dreamt my mother JB and I were looking at a red bricked duplex. I don’t think we lived there because the rooms were empty. I think we were just looking for a place to move into. We were standing outside. My mom was busy talking to a woman and a few other people while I was standing there looking around. She went inside but I stayed outside.
Suddenly a cop, maybe a policeman or a security guard walked by. He was staring at me as if he knew me. he looked familiar to me too. In my dream, I was wondering where do I know him from. He looked about 60 years old. Right after he walked by, another man, kind of scraggly, about the same age as the cop, walked by me, staring at me, he looked familiar too. The both walked into a building next store to the duplex which was some kind of business, maybe a bank.
From there I decided to go into the duplex to see what my mother was talking about. She never really looked at me..she just kept talking to the lady so I walked back outside.
Thats when I saw the scraggly second man crawl from underneath the building. He was wearing the cop uniform and he was carrying a bag. At the same time, the cop walked out the front door of the building wrapped in a sheet with another guy. It became apparent to me that the scraggly guy stole the cops uniform. I was putting it all together thinking “oh no, they just robbed the place” .
The scraggly guy realized I recognized him and grabbed me. He dragged me into the other side of the duplex.
There were 3 or 4 other men in the room. They were telling me to shut up and don’t move. I thought they were going to kill me. I was thinking “OMG, no one will ever know what happened to me!” I was really scared. They were looking around the room for something to tie me up with when I spotted the back glass sliding door. I took a chance and ran for it.. I ran out the door into a backyard with a chain link fence. My mom was now standing outside in the backyard still talking to that lady. Why my Mother wasn’t paying attention to me I’ll never know? lol
I finally got outside and saw my mom but it was like I was so scared I couldn’t scream.
Finally, I forced myself to scream “help me!” and that’s when I woke up. Thank God! And yes, my Mom heard me.
I was really shook up. Any thoughts?
Hmm HGM! thats eerie.
Thats exactly what I’m talking about! You dream of something and then it happens. Before my Mom died, a year or so before I dreamt about her and envisioned her home. It was horrible. Nothing like the way my Mom always kept it.
Sadly, when she died. it was a mess, just like in my dream. I wrote that dream down too.
IMO fears about police imcompetence (easily overtaken, stripped) The “Bad guy” slips away to do further harm, possibly fears about being “known” (stalker type?). I think the part about being drug inside 2nd part of dupl;ex could be about attempts to stifle you, quiet you, stop you. The vpart about your mom being there but not hearing you seems like : You know she is always with you in Spirit but is unable to physically manifest in order to help you with corrporeal events such as a physical attempt to do you harm. Interesting dream. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, Thank you HGM!
That sounds right. Especially the stalker type. I feel alot better now.
You’re welcome JB! Glad it helped. The great thing is that when you REALLY needed her, SHE HEARD YOU! Love, HGM
What a cool idea for a thread, JB. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been told several times that my approach to astrology is rather Freudian. When I was first told that I really didn’t know much about him. I think it is true but I don’t agree with everything he says. I don’t think that all dreams are our repressed wishes being played out, your dream being a good example. I believe the spirit plane/dream world is where we work through fears in a safe place. Spirit teaches us we come out (wake up) ok, in the end. I also think dream time is our spiritual school time. I’ve had many instructional dreams that are quite profound. Actually, I think dream time is parallel to or just like the whole concept of purgatory which fits the definition of shoal, translated into English as hell. I’ve always wondered if the the word purgatory has as its root the same as the meaning to purge, cleanse the self of all that is foul. The original definition of shoal is simple resting place or place of sleep, which can also be the grave. It’s a resting place with much more freedom of movement than during our waking hours where we’re stuck inside this body with all it’s limitations.
As I was reading your dream, I had the impression, until you said you thought the criminal overtook the officer, took his uniform, that they were both different faces of the same person. The underground, basement, is like the subconscious, the hidden part of ourselves. The sheet is like a cover, to hide our naked self. Red is the color of passion and rage, which is extreme passion. Brick is a man made foundation, strong but can be broken, just like the laws of our land. Perhaps the duplex is symbolic of all duality, double standards, two sides of every coin, qualities that can be used either for good or for bad. I wonder, given the nature of this blog, named in your mother’s memory, if this dream could be symbolic of a hidden fear that you could piss off one of those powers that be that, fitting the man recognizing you. Don’t worry, JB, your mom heard you and if anything did happen to you all of us would know.
JB,
If I had dreampt this, I would immediatley think about what has been on my mind a lot lately? What have you been thinking about a lot AND writing about. I do that a lot.
There were more people with your Mom and then just one.
Also about 4 bad people telling you to shut up.
The bad person was wearing a sheet. That is sugnificant to a klan.
This really happened. My friends’ neice saw a meeting like that right out side of her house.
They had even blocked her driveway. She went out to tell someone to move and a cop told her to get back in or he would take her to jail. TRUE STORY!
Could your Mom have been reporting this to the police about the house being empty?
I wasn’t through!!!! : )
It seems like in all of my dreams, I’m screaming help and wondering why no one hears me.
Did you feel like even though it was a terrible dream, that it was good seeing your Mom?
Maybe it was to say no matter what I’m always here.
My son came to me in a dream twice. He was sick before and we knew at a point he wasn’t going to make it (damn that was hard ) I asked the doctor did they do everything possible and he said thry had and what he needed now was peace and not to suffer.
My son was worried about all of us. I cried and told him that we would miss him terribly bit would all help each other, that we knew he needed peace and not to suffer. He said Mom that is the sweetest gift you could give. He said I know mornings are really bad for you and IF I CAN, I will come and say Good Morning. I say all of that to tell you that after he was gone I had 2 different dreams about him in the morning and I woke up. I wanted to go back to sleep so bad and keep dreaming. In the first one, he surprised me and I called out his name, I couldn’t believe it. In the dream, looked at me do excited, smiling and looked GREAT.
The second one was similiar, he looked ecited, smiling and looked even better that the first one. He had on his jeans, but looked so healty and happy and even had a glow, not real bright, but soft and I think that was his way of coming back and saying Good Morning. I told him while we were having our last talk, that I would say Good Morning back. I felt so good after those dreams. The grieving process takes a long time, BUT I believe you Mom was there to tell you that no matter how bad, she was always there. : )
Also you may want to ask her questions but we know we can’t, BUT that was still her way of saying I’m Here! : )
Thank you Lolypop for sharing your beautiful dream. Your son sounds like a wonderfully wise young man. To think he told you he’d visit in the morning and then he does…gave me goose pumps. That is so sweet. God bless you and your family.
Yes, I think my Mom was with me for a reason. Funny thing, I’ve been praying that she’d come to me in a dream but she never did. This was the first time. And when she does show up in my dream it’s when I needed her the most, so that’s really cool too.
It isn’t a coincidence , is it? : ) Yes really cool!
My daughter was real close to her brother too and when she needs him the most, she finds a dime.
That’s another thing. Dime stories and it isn’t in a place you would expect to find one. : )
My son always said his family and friends were profoundly precious to him.
He was the same to us.
She also had a very sweet dream about him, that he came up, put his hands on her shoulders, looked her in the eyes and said do you know you’re the best sister I could have ever had.
Isn’t that sweet?
I love dreams ike that!
I think your Mom knew you needed her and she wanted you to know, she’s right there, even through your nighmares. : )
That is something you were praying for her to show up in your dreams AND she found the time. : )
I say that because my son told me almost excited Mom, I’m going to work. He said I’m not just going to be floating around on clouds.
I used to ask him so many questions. lol You can imagine, I would say, you know I don’t know if I want to be floating around on clouds for eternity! LOL
Bless his precious heart, to know that he had such a mother. : )
Speaking of dreams: Before my spouse passed on both my parents visited me in my dream and warned me to buy life insurance, this was about 2 weeks prior. Twice, matter of fact. Never bought the insurance however did bring it up in a discussion, we both were going to start to prepare however it was too late…But both my parents who passed on did visit me in the dream and did warn me to buy it…..To this day I still think about that. My mother passed on 3 yrs ago. My spouse, two yrs ago this past Nov.
GasCan,
Those dreams always amaze me.
You lost your Mom and spouse within 3 years! So sorry
I guess it means angels do come to visit us in our dreams.
AND it means we had better pay attention, right?
GCG, I am so sorry for your loss. You too Loly!
This is weird (at least to me, but normal for me lol) I have NEVER had a dream that I remember that I didnt know everything, everyone and so forth. It could be something/someone I saw on tv or read about. Or that someone else talked about. Not that they GO together lol. Nor do I know what they actually mean sometimes, but like I said, this is for dreams I remember LOL. OH, and one I have had dreams about, this is strange, I have dreamt about a dream I had that I had when I was abt 8 mo preg with my oldest dtr. I was dreaming of walking over a wooden bridge like the kinds you use to drive over (they scare me) under the bridge the water was blood (lol I had watched CARRIE) I was sooo scared I was screaming and I woke up my husband. I was awake, yet I couldnt WAKE UP. Although I was looking straight at him. When I went back to sleep, it started right off again. Same thing happened, I couldnt wake up I felt. This went on about 20 min. I remb being so scared something was wrong with my baby. She was fine. Crazy, I now have dreams about that dream. LOL GO FIGURE!
GCG, OT, that breaks my heart that your Spouse didnt get to meet your new GrandSon! But then Babies are a true gift from GOD, SOOO maybe she did!!!
JB,
Your mom I feel visited you to reassure you that you are not alone, no matter what the circumstances….
TY MIMI and Loly,,
I will post later what happened with my daughter after my mother died, this one is really freaky…
Thank you Gas Can,
I had no idea that you lost your husband recently and your mother. That must be hard. I’m so sorry for your lost.
I think you’re right, my mom was there for me. I’m so glad I posted my dream here because I hadn’t thought of that. I’m so happy you all put it together for me because I feared something bad was going to happen to me.
GCG, I sense that your family are much like you. Up front and to the point which is a wonderful thing. lol, They didn’t beat around the bush. They told you to buy insurance. That’s awesome. If they ever give you the lottery numbers be sure to play them.
Thank you Mimi for reminding me of my dream. Remember I said that the dreams I remember come true. Check out what happened to me yesterday and compare it to my dream I posted here. Its a little eerie, isn’t it?
I thought it was an amazing comparison. Including the “incompetent cop”. That bank had no right to hold you ID and certainly no right to detain you. They sent 5 cop cars? It’s not like you passed them a hold-up note FGS! Pushed inot another area and detained without being told what was happening or why. Great fear over being held and for what purpose. THat was the exact theme of your dream.
No way!!!!!
That’s messed up!
JB, take your lawyer with you.
The bank will never get it straight. When something like that happens it’s written in stone and
for some reason, something that should be so easy to fix turns into a nightmare.
You have this in the right place, only it wasn’t a dream it was a nightmare that actually happened.
See you on 20/20. : )
I know, it’s nothing to joke about, but when they have your lincense, ssc, EVEN you standing right in front of them and then telling you, that you’re deseased is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
And don’t you just hate it when they make a big scene and it has to look like you had done something terrible? That’s awful.
When the people walked by and stared, you should have just looked at them and said, don’t worry about me, I’m harmless, I’m deseased!
What’s wrong eith the idiots?? They could plainly see that THEY made a big mistake.
Give ‘em hell JB.
Make them show their faces and be the ones embarressed by them having to explain to someone on TV how they royaly screwed up.
You go girl!! Yoi’ve got your supporters right here.
Aww.. thank you Loly!
BTW, I just read your email and I’m glad you were able to post. That was crazy too…lol lol Wow.
LOL Loly. I said pretty much the same thing on Protected.
It’s crazy girls, isn’t it???
JB, you should have went BOOOOO!
Holy, it’s true isn’t it? They never seem to take the blame
and never get it fixed.
JB, Really, take a lawyer and the TV station.
We’ll be watching for you.
And if you need us, we’re only a plain flight away! LOL
Wouldn’t that be a scene?
We’ll hit Boubon St. first!!
Might as well make a party out of it. : )
Okay, Bank Screw-up Update:
Had a meeting with the Regional Manager today and she brought in someone with her…an attorney.
Nice, huh.
I didn’t have my attorney with me so I made it short and sweet. The nerve of this woman the Regional manager! She tried to tell me that it was because I left that raised the red flag. Excuse her… I was red flagged as soon as they saw I was deceased. I left 30 minutes after they confiscated my DL. They fail to accept that I did have my beautiful 100lb, long haired dog with me, in a hot car.
Did that B*th think I was going to let one of my dog’s brain cells fry because of their stupid mistake? I told them I was leaving to bring my dog home and I’d be right back. Now what criminal do you know that comes back?
At that point, I said, “oh that’s your argument? I’m outta here, see ya in court”
They were trying to high brow me.. pfft!
After my mother died I had a dream that she was sitting in a movie theatre with my dad (who also passed on) she was sitting in the back row, I was sitting next to her and my dad behind us. I dont remember a movie playing, we were just enjoying each other’s company. And that was it/. I remember it very clearly.
My daughter called me the following day and said she had a dream about grandpa (my dad) and he was sitting in the movie theatre and he said to her: ” Don’t worry” Grandma is with me and we’re watching movies…..
I almost died. She had no clue I had a dream about the movie theatre, me sitting there with them watching movies…..I almost fainted….
Just thought i’d share
OMG! That is so strange! Did they like to go to movies? It could be the movie they’re watching is their family? Just a thought..
