The problem with Casey is she is a poor murderess. Her murdering skills are under par in my opinion. I’ll admit Casey is a good liar, a fairly good thief, she does have some embezzling skills, but murder isn’t her forte.
Yes, I know how awful this sounds. Yes, I know I’m referring to the death of an innocent child, Caylee. I’m a mother of three children and I think it’s this fact that makes me wonder “how could a mother do this?” I know Casey wouldn’t be the first to do this horrible deed but there’s something different about Casey’s background that doesn’t make her a candidate to murder her child. Compared to Diane Downing, she was much more desperate. Susan Smith, she was weak, unattractive, lacked confidence and didn’t have the support system that Casey had. If Casey were any way like Susan Smith she would have broke down and confessed within 4 days. Why doesn’t Casey confess? I expected her to by now. I expected her to confess after she took LE on a joyride to Universal Studios. Nope, not even when she would have been given partial immunity. When Caylee was found on December 11, 2008, 11 houses from her swimming pool and her playhouse, I cried. I cried out of sadness but mostly anger at little Miss Casey.
To think I actually would have hired her to be my kid’s nanny. Look at her, really. Wholesome girl, beautiful smile, likable personality, polite, well spoken. Really, what’s wrong with Casey? I might have fixed her up with my son and he would have been happy. (okay, I’m lying. I would have caught her in her first lie and she would have been out the door) But other than that, she seems like a nice girl. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t know how to get away with murder.
A person who wants to get away with murder doesn’t borrow a shovel from a neighbor to use for burying bodies. They don’t stick around for 31 days after the fact when they’re holding a good checkbook to buy groceries and sexy clothes to look pretty for their boyfriend. Casey seems to be of reasonable intelligence. This sh*t doesn’t make sense.
Maybe she should have bought some hair dye and a bus ticket to Hot Springs, Arkansas. I think she would have fit in just fine. Maybe from there, she could have continued her lie to Cindy, but this time make it a long distance call. What could Cindy do then? Call the PoPo? Tell them her adult daughter moved away and took her grandchild. Stomp her feet and scream “I want to talk to my grand daughter right now!!” but my mean daughter won’t let me!”. What would the police do then? Yes, they might want to trace Casey down just in case, but it would have taken months before they got around to it. I’m sure they’ve run into this problem before. It sounds like a typical family dispute.
Nope, Casey’s not a good enough criminal in my mind. So this is why, I’m in for the long haul. There’s something very strange about this one. The whole damn thing stinks. I’ll be back with more on that.
Well said:-)
Thank you Loni. It’s all in the way you look at things.
GREAT insight *JBmission
But I have always wondered why she didn’t just say in the very beginning that Caylee drowned by accident? Immediately ……if she would have called 911, I would bet she would be a free woman right now. Even without water in the lungs, that’s much easier to overcome then what she’s facing now. Makes you wonder though….how could she live everyday, like a normal day with her daughters dead body in the trunk? She would have had to have been very careful driving around. I picture her like Janet Leigh in psycho after stealing that money.
Diana,
Thank you for commenting. This reminds me of an old song “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover”
I can’t for the life of me imagine riding around with a dead child in the trunk, carrying on with my friends like nothing was wrong. Doesn’t sound likely to me. But I’m not CMA2 either..lol
Hi jbmission, What is wrong with Casey? I would tell you but it would take to long to post it all . What’s wrong with Casey the list is as long as Santa Clauses.
Hi Diana, had Casey said it was an accident by drowning that would have sunk her as well as medical experts would know she didn’t drown so when that was told to Casey she would start her lies trying to think of something else. If it were any kind of true accident Casey would not have feared surely Calling 911 but it was no accident (in my opinion) and i believe Casey feared if the body was found it would reveal exactly what she did to her to kill her. Medical examiner Jan Garavaglia will testify that the duct tape was put on prior to death due to the mandible being in place and that is not going to look good for Casey at all. New attorney Mason has his work cut out for him because getting around all the information that finger’s Casey can’t just be swept away by a big power talking attorney as the truth is what it is in this case and it always goes back one hundred percent to Casey.
You are a breathe of fresh posting!! lol
But you must understand this was Casey’s first hands on murder (a possible abortion doesn’t count in this country, altho it may have influenced her thinking in the 3-and-under right to life) You would think in this day-and-age, all the murders on TV, etc. that she could have been a little more spectacular in her deed, a little more impressive.
But just like in High School, perhaps in Casey’s thinking she was making the grade, that she was going to graduate (in murder school.) Who else do we know has used duct tape as a murder weapon AND, as you so eloquently stated, hung around at her boyfriends and parking her stinking car in plain sight instead of taking off with hair spray? Her rule of thought may have been Do the Obvious, Leave behind the Evidence, Lie, and…get away with it!!
Confession?? She did confess to Baez and her mother. But they convinced her she was wrong. It wasn’t really her fault, and there are other ways to think about dead things and such.
I agree with you knight owl. There’s something definitely wrong with her. I can’t figure her out. Hopefully, by time of the trial we’ll have a professional psychologist explain the makings of Casey Anthony. Sociopath? Psychopath? Whatever she is, she surely hadn’t thought it through. This was the point I was trying to make in my article. Why didn’t she run? I’d also like to know what made her so desperate to hurt Caylee this particular day. I believe there was a lot going on Father’s Day weekend @ the Ants. Hopefully, George and Cindy will tell the truth. I think they are the key because why would they continue to defend Casey even after knowing Caylee was gone??
Thank you for your thoughts and please come back.
I think Casey had the Scarlett O’Hara thought process. “I will think about it tomarrow”. She seemed to live in the moment and not think of consequences. When she stole from Amy, and had the nerve to sign her own name……..What did she think was going to happen? Did she think Amy would not investigate her missing money? She just thought, I’ll figure out a lie when she finds out. It had always worked on her parents and gullible brother.
Diana,
I have mixed feelings about Casey using Amy’s checks. As you mentioned, she signs her own name..strange. Not long ago, I had a theory about the Puerto Rico trip that Ric, Troy, JP and Amy took. I have thought about this and it came to me that maybe Amy wasn’t really the victim. This was before Casey pled out to the fraud charges. So what does this mean? It meant Amy didn’t have to testify. I have a feeling that somewhere during the trial the check issue will come up again. We shall see..
jbmission: what do you mean Amy wasn’t really the victim? She “let” Casey have the checkbook like she let her use her car? (It is odd that she kept her checkbook in the glovebox.(Why is it called a glovebox?)) Was Amy that trusting or stupid? I always thought Casey signed her own name because she wasn’t thinking or busy thinking about something else.
Well Ideas,
You know there’s always two sides to every story. I’ve never heard of anyone writing bad checks on someone else’s acct. and sign their own name. Doesn’t that sound odd to you? It does to me. I don’t know what kind of relationship Amy and Casey had? I know Amy was planning on moving in with Casey. Maybe they had an understanding. Actually, I think it may have more to do with the very unusual trip to Puerto Rico. I’m not convinced that this trip isn’t involved in Caylee’s disappearance. Ric, Troy, JP and Amy all went on different flights. I don’t know of any group of friends who travel that way. I think it’s strange. So I think it’s strange that Casey would blatantly sign her name. You don’t have to agree with me but it’s just is my opinion. Hopefully we’ll find out for sure one day.
Keep coming up with your observations! I think you bring up great points and you aren’t argumentative.
Ideas,
Thank you for the encouragement!! I sure can use it…lol
Well, JB, I agree with you on a few points here. Definitely this sh** doesn’t make sense. No doubt about that. And she’s definitely attractive, in looks, personality, and people skills–when she feels like it. I’m sure the vast majority of people who came across her probably thought she was a dream. And Casey is a poor murderess, yup, that’s not her strong suit. Or maybe she’s just stupid like a fox. Let’s remember that there’s no direct evidence linking her to the crime, just circumstantial evidence. Not even a cause of death.
And you’re right about leaving town. If she had just left town, this charade could have continued for YEARS. And in 10 years she could have just said that Caylee ran away from home, and that would have been the end of it. Case closed. No, I think that lack of direct evidence was just dumb luck for Casey. I think she’s not nearly as smart as she appears. With a little more planning and a little less ego, that is, less thinking that she could continue leading her parents around by the nose in plain sight, Casey could have potentially walked away from this ordeal scot-free. Casey’s biggest mistake in all of this was underestimating her mother. Ah yes, kids always think they’re so much smarter than everyone else……
One thing I do agree with wholeheartedly is that things are rarely black and white, but almost always some shade of grey. I don’t think any of us will ever know exactly what happened.
Great blog, keep ‘em coming!
